Navy — a very dark pure blue (#000080) — is one of the best-known N colors, used as a standard web keyword and as a common name for deep blue in fashion and uniforms.

It is named after the nadeshiko flower, Dianthus superbus (the fringed pink). In Japan the flower lends its name to the phrase Yamato nadeshiko, an ideal of graceful femininity, and to the national women’s football team, “Nadeshiko Japan.”
